The Soundtrack of My Life
So, I've been a super bad blogger again! I want to get back into it, so I thought I'd start with something fun.
If my life were a movie what would it sound like? So, here’s what you do:
1. Open iTunes
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie!
Opening Credits: Tears by RUFiO (Kind of a bummer, is my movie a drama? I was hoping it was a comedy, I guess I'll have to settle for dark comedy)
Waking Up: Knockin' on Heaven's Door by Eric Clapton
First Day At School: Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd (I'm a girl, but I do <3 this song so, okay)
Falling In Love: Blister by Jimmy Eat World
Fight Song: Down the Highway by Bob Dylan
Prom: Twentythree by Yellowcard
Life’s OK: Boy on a String by Jars of Clay
Mental Breakdown: Sick or Sane (Fifty for a Twenty) by Senses Fail (hehehe)
Driving: Hit Bottom by Carolina Liar
Flashback: Little Bombs by Dashboard Confessional
Getting Back Together: You've Got a Friend by James Taylor
Wedding: Welcome to Paradise by Green Day (lol)
Birth of Child: The Ripper by The Used (um, ok...)
Final Battle: Groovy Times by The Clash Death Scene: Friday I'm In Love by The Cure
Funeral Song: Free by The Martinis (interesting)
End Credits: I've Still Got My Health by Bette Midler
Hahahahaha
Quite an intriguing exercise! I'm guessing my movie/life is filled with irony...or maybe I just have an eccentric taste in music...

Short and Sweet (kinda like me)
I haven't been a good blogger lately. I've been busy trying to pack up my entire life for the big homecoming tomorrow. There's a whole system. Trying to decide what gets to be long term storage, short term storage, and what gets to grace my presence for the next six months is difficult to say the least.
Speaking of packing, I discovered my old journal and took a few minutes to flip through it...almost immediately there were tears in my eyes...because I was laughing so hard! OMG Was I ever really that young and stupid?! Apparently, I was. One great thing was seeing references to friends like Cassie, Becka, and Star, and realizing how long they've been in my life and all of the things that we've been through. Here's a reminder of what we were like back then...

P.S. Don't judge us, these photos were all taken over ten years ago...and yes, Star is wearing an Elmo shirt. (Actually, I also know for a fact that Cassie is wearing a Tweety Bird bathing suit in the pool photo, too bad that wasn't caught on camera)

Puff, puff, pass...
Awesomely Bad...
It’s a widely known fact that I LOVE movies. I love all movies, all genres, horror is even growing on me...slowly. One of my favorite genres is Awesomely Bad. You know, the type of movie that is so, so bad that it becomes awesome?!Anyway, so I’m watching Weekend at Bernie’s the other night and it strikes me just how many 80’s movies can be categorized as awesomely bad, except of course, The Goonies, which is just awesome, oh and The Princess Bride is just fab. The hair, the clothes, the outrageous storylines...I mean come on...all those John Hughes movies, which I love of course, they are all horrible and yet...still awesome.
Take Pretty in Pink, there is just some weird stuff in there, I mean Duckie for one, and seriously, I know it was the 80’s, but still the title of the movie is Pretty in Pink, so shouldn’t the prom dress be pretty, not horrifically ugly?! Also, every time I watch it some twisted part of me really wants Molly Ringwald to end up with James Spader, now there’s a movie! Maybe I’ve just seen Secretary too many times...anyway...I digress...a lot of 80’s movies are just plain silly and I love them. If you, like my friend Becka, are sadly behind in your 80’s movie viewing here are some must sees:Weekend at Bernie’s, two dudes dragging a corpse around the Hamptons equals serious comedy.
John Hughes classics like Breakfast Club, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Pretty in Pink, if you haven’t seen these movies, you probably suck at pop culture trivia.
Pretty much anything with Shelley Long is awesomely bad 80’s comedy. Money Pit is great with some early Tom Hanks action, Hello Again with Irish hottie Gabriel Byrne (yeah the guy from The Usual Suspects), and Troop Beverly Hills, one of my all time favs.
Mannequin, Kim Cattrall as a mannequin, who comes to life and falls in love with Andrew McCarthy, what’s not to love?
Oh, and Lucas, with Corey Haim, the redhead chick from The Goonies, a verrrrryyy young Winonna Ryder, and a young and studly Charlie Sheen (before all the rehab and hookers).
Adventures in Babysitting, just watch it.
Teen Witch, it was on the Disney Channel for years so I've seen it about 100 times. It is a must see for all 80’s movie fans, plus a great makeover which I’m a sucker for. Oh, and some rad 80’s rapping!
Can’t forget Goldie Hawn favorites like Overboard and Protocol. My mom always said I was like Private Benjamin, “Where are the condos?”

As stated above, not all 80’s movies are awesomely bad, some are just awesome, Stand By Me, Steel Magnolias, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Silverado, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Empire of the Sun, Back to the Future, and The Untouchables, to name a few.
Here are a some that I can’t quite place. Help me out, awesomely bad or just plain awesome?
Beetlejuice
Ghostbusters
National Lampoon's Vacation
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
To sum up, “What’s your damage, Heather?” (If you don’t know this quote, go shoot yourself in the foot)
What's your favorite 80's movie?
